Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner filed for divorce this past week. In 2015, after ten years of marriage, the two announced their intentions to divorce, remaining amicable friends for two years for “a commitment to co-parenting our children,” the couple told People in 2015. The couple has been seen together in various outings since 2015, but sources say they were always committed to doing “what was best for their kids.” Their statement to People in 2015, however, remains as evidence that they had always planned to divorce, despite rumors of staying together.

This announcement came a month after Affleck revealed he finished rehab for his alcohol addiction, stating, “I want to be the best father I can be.” Garner and Affleck submitted their files together and both plan on going forward “with love and friendship for one another.”

Affleck’s next big project is Justice League, which drops in theaters November 17th. Garner is currently in production for multiple films coming out in 2017 and 2018.
