Not only is former supermodel and reality TV personality, Tyra Banks, returning to her acclaimed “America’s Next Top Model” for its twenty-fourth cycle, but she’s also decided to remove the age limit of the contestants able to participate on the show. People over the age of 27 are now able to compete for a modeling contract, a magazine spread, and of course – a cash prize.

Banks hosted ANTM on the CW for its first 22 seasons, and on UPN for its twenty-third season, before VH1 picked it up to be “reinvented for a new generation.” Banks and Kevin Mok remained executive producers for season 24, but the revival featured a new panel of judges with singer and actress, Rita Ora, as the host.

“I’m overwhelmed and humbled by the intensity of the ANTM fan base whose deep affection for the show led me to have a change of heart,” Banks said. “After giving it a lot of thought, I realized that remaining behind the camera wasn’t enough because ANTM is woven into my DNA.”

While away, Banks appeared as an advisor on “The New Celebrity Apprentice” as CEO for her own beauty line, Tyra Beauty. President Donald Trump still remains as executive producer on the reality TV competition which landed Banks a brief spot on the #GrabYourWallet campaign to boycott businesses in affiliation with Donald Trump. Banks was removed from the list after she pledged not to be involved with the show going forward.

“Filmed a year ago,” began a spokesperson for Banks, “our involvement was limited to showcasing Tyra Beauty’s innovative cosmetics products. We want to make it clear that Tyra Beauty is not an active sponsor of ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ series and does not plan to become one in the future.”

Upon her return, Banks announced ANTM will no longer have an age limit in order for contestants to compete on the show.

“There have been 23 cycles of “America’s Next Top Model” and every single cycle we say you have to be 27 years old or younger,” Banks announced in a video posted to her Twitter account over the weekend. “You know what I hear all the time? ‘Tyra, come on! Why have an age limit?’ So, you know what? I’m taking that age limit off. You want to audition for “America’s Next Top Model?” I don’t care how old you are, honey. You just need to know how to smize and be open to learning how to work the runway like a supermodel.”
ANTM is scheduled to shoot its twenty-fourth season over the summer. Click here for a video of Banks explaining the new casting process.
